Araw ng Kagitingan/Day of Valor

Photo by me taken at Luneta

Yesterday, April 9, was a Philippine holiday. It is known to all as Araw ng Kagitingan (in English, Day of Valor). It is a shame for me to say, that I really don't know what happened that day. Well, I am not really good at memorizing, and there are LOTS of dates in History. :(

All I know is we commemorate lots of heroes this day, during the time of the Second World War.

To those Filipinos, "Saludo ako sainyo."
(I salute you.)

But today, let us also not forget the present day heroes.

A politician, who does the right thing, even when he/she is surrounded with corruption.
A jeepney driver, despite having a small income, returns a sum of money left in his jeepney.
A mother, who leaves his family, in order to work abroad and pay for the school tuition of her kids.
A teacher, who has a nice job offer elsewhere, but refuses because he/she hears the needs of his/her students.

Let us not forget these people.
The people, who are continually building this nation.
The people, who saw what our past heroes saw.
And the people who believe, that
"The Filipinos are worth dying for." --Ninoy Aquino
